Aviator Releases is a new Aviator product that helps teams coordinate releases, deployments and rollbacks. It works with existing CI/CD systems (Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, argoCD, Spinnaker, fluxCD) and integrates with GitHub.

Overview

Aviator Releases provides a unified dashboard for teams. The core capabilities include

• Release notes
  • Create a release and release notes for a given service / project
  • Aviator shows the Changelog containing diff from the last release
  • Release notes are automatically synced with GitHub
  • Track GitHub PRs lifecycle - keep track of what changes are in which environments
• Release verification
  • A workflow to request review from all developers who have changes in a changelog
  • Integration with Slack for notifying owners
• Deployment
  • Trigger the deploy using your existing CI/CD framework, track the deployment status, and notify relevant parties
  • Enable any product engineers to safely deploy a release, including custom access control rules
  • Freeze / block the deployment on a schedule or manually
• Rollback
  • Quickly deploy a rollback to a previous version and recover from an incident
  • Set up automated rules for rollbacks - connect with Datadog, Grafana, AWS Cloudwatch.
• Cherrypicks
  • Easily create cherrypick PRs from any commit
  • Create cherry pick releases and deploy them
  • Backport cherrypicks on all active releases
• Audit logs
  • Track the approvals and deployment actions
  • Track Change Failure Rate and Mean Time to Recovery (DORA Metrics)
